PEOPLE AND EVENTSSister Maud Cronin - A Brief BiographyMargaret was born on March 24th 1938, to Patrick and Mary Cronin. Known as Maud because her baby brother was unable to say ‘Margaret’, she was the eldest of six children and is survived by three sisters and her brother.
Maud entered the Sisters of St Joseph, Llantarnam Abbey, in 1954. She had the great grace of celebrating her Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession in 2006. Having trained as a Nurse and Midwife, Sister Columba ministered in our Hospital in Malpas for almost 50 years. Her loving and generous nature meant that she always had time for everyone. Her love extended not only to people but also to animals, especially horses and dogs. She had a keen interest in Politics, History and Current Affairs. Her Ministry was wide and varied, as well as nurse and midwife, Outpatients’ Department Manager in Malpas, she accompanied many Pilgrimages to Lourdes giving her services unstintingly to the sick and handicapped. Columba’s unobtrusive genuine spirituality reached all those she encountered. We have lost a dear Sister and a wonderful friend. May she rest in peace. Back to PEOPLE AND EVENTS Menu |
